Ro’s Wedding Countdown is ON!

Yesterday was “National Proposal Day” and the other half of this blog and I have been planning her upcoming nuptials for months now, and the big date is officially 21 days away! As a special surprise, yesterday our bride’s picture showed up on Southern Bride Magazine’s blog with tips on how to take great engagement photos! Christen Jones Photography did a fabulous job and Ro loves working with her. If these are any indication of the wedding photos, Ro has chosen the right woman for the job.

Over the next few weeks we will be sharing some sneak peeks of all the planning coming together before the big reveal on her wedding day in April. The theme is “vintage travel” and the intricate details woven into every aspect of their special day are so romantic, I can hardly wait. So much so that I wish it was this weekend. Except for all of the painting I have to still get done. And finishing the favors. And the seating chart. And the place cards…. but I’m so excited I can’t stop thinking about it! As an event coordinator, this is my first non-work related project, and I’m so thankful that Ro and Rob let me be a part of the creative process!

The week before the engagement photo shoot, I helped Ro pick out what to wear, taking into account their life together as a couple and the backdrop of spots around the Memphis historical South Main arts district, where we all happen to live. I’m telling you, every part of this wedding has something sentimental to it. She chose to re-wear the dress that she wore the first time they met- at a wedding. Of course she didn’t want just an average engagement shoot, so we brainstormed how to make it even more special for her and Rob, and incorporating their travel theme was a must. Weeks before, I was in Kansas City searching through the West Bottom’s antique warehouse district (post to come on that magical place!) for items to bring back to Memphis specifically for the wedding. Old suitcases, egg crates and more are all making a wedding appearance, but the vintage globe I found tucked into a dusty display was the best find of the weekend. We will be using it for their guest book, but for their engagement shoots it was the perfect prop! Big thanks to Christen Jones Photography and Southern Bride Magazine for capturing their cuteness and sentimentality in all the right ways! Check them all out here if you want more!
